HOTEL 7 STARS green wall – Milan, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Setting up a green wall in the luxury and prestigious Hotel Seven Stars, in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
Against a uniform green weave, tending to blue, a stylised branch develops, which produces flowers during the summer months. The colours recall the red lead of the gallery’s supporting structure, left on view in the hall. The green wall covers approximately 28 linear metres on the service passage wall of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele overlooked by the glass windows of the new hotel premises. The plants set in the green wall are chosen according to the setting’s conditions: reduced lighting, reduced ventilation, reasonable protection from wind and prolonged cold spells. In terms of composition, thought should be given to the observation point, from the front, which is highly developed lengthwise and very little vertically. We have therefore preferred a linear drawing, stylised but which easily allows pinpointing the differences in terms of texture and colour of the species of which it consists, such as Nandina domestica ‘Murasaki’, Heuchera ‘Rings of fire’, Lonicera nitida ‘Red Tips’, Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’, Carex var., Vinca minor, Liriope muscari ‘Big Blue’.
